This mudcloth throw blanket is inspired by the traditional Malian culture in Africa. Hand spun and woven from 100% cotton, the fabric is first imprinted with the geometric tribal patterns using a special kind of mud prepared by hand; a traditional block printing art of India. Then it is dipped in an azo-free dye and is laid flat in the sun for drying through which the dye bonds with the fabric. A washing process then follows to remove the excess dye and the mud. The end result transforms into a beautiful and vintage looking art piece rich with color and patterns. This throw is a fusion of both the symbolic tribal patterns of the Malian culture and the traditional dabu printing techniques of India.
